The Force can be piggybacked on a harmonic sub-carrier wave imbedded in the Empire's F-band communications frequencies. Not common knowledge amongst the Empire's suits but most hackers are privy to it.
The Admiral's surprise and alarm at such a feat kept him from doing anything about it.

But let me modify that theory a bit. See, Darth's Force mind powers on humans is quite short range. BUT...his control over smaller creatures, such as bees (which we all know the Admiral was deathly allergic to) is of a much longer range and well within the scope of that particular Star Destroyer's insect population. Ergo, Darth ordered the bee hit from behind the grassy knoll.
Hmm...... and that would explain why the death star was sort of hive shaped. The laser wasn't the real weapon - it was the race of giant space bees that were being raised inside it. With giant bees under his control, Vader could have stripped Kashyyk of all it's pollen and deposited it on Naboo, whose natives have terrible allergies.
Now you're just being silly. It's been proven that insects can only grow so large with their exoskeletons. Otherwise they would be crushed by their own weight.

Neither the Wonder Twins' Space Monkey or Space Ghost's Space Monkey were that big... but they were kind of scary.
